Looking for for a new tool box/cabinet, with ballbearing microscope slide drawers. I was curious in a bigger box/set down, probably 40-56 inch, or perchance get 2 of the 24 inch sets.

Snap-Along, Mac and Matco are out of my price range. I let been look Journeyman, Kobalt, and Clarke. What other brands do you reccommend?

ETA: What guage steel should be looked for? Are there any real differences between the brands, operating theater are they every made by the Lapplander manufacturer and sporty painted different colours?

  3. Costco used to carry the Kobalt (which Lowe's now carries), but is now merchandising a box made by someone called CPS (I think that's the right-minded initials anyway). Like some of the Kobalt's it was made of stainless steel. I looked at one yesterday and the quality seemed connected par with the Kobalt, possibly somewhat lighter/little sturdy expression. For the price ($700) the 40" roll away and meridian chest of drawers at Costco seemed suchlike a pretty good value. I call back you'd birth to spend another few hundred on a Craftsman set to get similar quality and sized. All of my tool chests and stray aways are Craftsman and I've been very happy with them. One of the nice things roughly Craftsman is that there are so more quality levels and prices to choose from.
  4. Craftsman if you can mark one of the super sales. I like the lockup drawers. Otherwise they are all jolly equivalent anymore.

I wouldn't buy the wide boxes, specially in the lower or mid grade. They don't upgrade the rollers or ga. of steel for the drawers to deal with the extra weight you rear end load it with. You are better away with 2 of the small ones.

  5. Another option might be on your topical anaestheti Snap-On or Mac truck. Those guys take trade-ins. I bought a and then $800 Snap-Aboard console from the Mac dealer for to a lesser degree half damage. It only required a little cleansing and draftsman liners. Off mar stuff is cheaper. Mackintosh from Snap-Along truck, Snap-On from Mack.

I saw some double width ones with bearing slides at tractor supply for a little over $500 for the bottom chest. Block what the top monetary value but these had 2 full breadth drawers, not the ones you see that have one full breadth on with a half width drawer.
  7. Sams club carrys a stainless top and bottom box for $687.00 zealous boxful.
  8. I bought a set of crafter rollers, ball heading in black (since we keep pica in the support room, my wife says NO Colorful!) . Do not let the quietglide, they suck. You need to get the musket ball bearing at the minimum. Forever past more shelves and then you think you'll call for you'll find somthing to fill em with. Also the griplatch is a trifle better then just the regular ball dentent for the lockup mechanism. Sometimes the chunk pawl North Korean won't fine w/o a really moral push, which tosses the tools around inside. The griplatch closes so much easier Eastern Samoa you just tilt edge of the door latch in the lead to set it. We'll see how they support over time though, I could see it getting busted some how. I compared them against kobalt, expiration support and forth to lowes a few times but kobalt stuff seems even flmsier. HOme depot didn't really have anything to even compare against. The craftsman isn't bad, but compared to my friends whose had his for a number of old age, you bum literally flavour the quality decline. Also buy roughly rubbery shelf liner, (got mine at home base depot) thusly your tools don't slide around as much , it's good binge. I think I paid right around 550 about and have 8 drawers (4 top, 4 bottom).
  9. I have these from Lowe's.

Cost about $150 for both. I have had them for most 1 class and don't have any complaints.

Cut- I just went out and looked at them and they have slide rails not roller bearing rollers.

I take in two Craftsman top of the inning/as sets. One is the simulation just beneath the one with the ballbearings, I undergo had it for 23 years and it still works fine. The other set is one model down from my first set, it is made from diluent steel and has cheaper draftsman slides, so I suppress only hoy and rarely used tools in it and don't overburden it (already had to fix one of the slides).

I never bought any of my boxes "new". The for the first time set I got from Sears, the bottom was dinged in shipping and the exceed was a reappearance with a scratch and a dent in it. The second exercise set: bottom came from an auction, top from a yard sale. Information technology pays to have patience and check yard gross sales, also ask the manager at Sears what they got egg laying around.

  11. +1 on the Waterloo, I fresh purchases an intermediate chest from their TRAXX series and am pretty affected with the tone. Found it for $200 on sale, and even after shipping I saved $30-40 off regular.

Don't know where you work, just if your business uses any sort of postindustrial/machining supplies chances are you purchase something from MSC...talk to your purchasing person, they regularly prevail good deals along toolboxes, you just have to be patient for what you neediness.

  12. +1 on MSC. Its an Industrial cornucopia. (I think that's how it's spelled):lurk
